Norilsk Nickel to build new concentrator in Norilsk until 2025
MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel plans to build a concentrator with a capacity of 11–14 million tonnes of ore per year in the city of Norilsk until 2025, a representative of the company told PRIME on Friday.
“There are plans to build a new facility with a capacity of 11–14 million tonnes of ore per year until 2025,” the representative said.
The board of directors of Norilsk Nickel is to meet on March 29 and discuss several issues, including the company’s adjusted strategy until 2030. However, the company’s total investment until the year should remain at around 2 trillion rubles, the representative added.
On February 20, a collapse of the crushing department’s roof occurred at the Norilsk Concentrator, killing three workers. The company suspended the concentrator after the accident, and restarted one ore processing line on March 15 and plans to restart another line before April 15.
